Launch of a new program in Public Policy and Good Governance

On 28 January, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) celebrates, at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, the launch of its new program in Public Policy and Good Governance (PPGG).

Thus, the DAAD would provide targeted support for good governance in Africa, Latin America, South Asia, Southeast Asia and the countries of the Middle East and to strenghten civil societies.

TropHEE - Master Program at TU-Darmstadt

The technical university - Darmstadt offers a master program to bachelor graduates and professionals called "Tropical Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology and Environmental Management" (TropHEE).

TropHEE is an international master study program in english language with orientation towards "applied geoengeneering sciences". It has been conceived for students who want to work in the tropics, subtropics and seminarid areas in high management or project positions.

TropHEE is situated at the technical university - Darmstadt, faculty for "applied geoengeneering sciences". DAAD scholars participate in the program as well.

Learn the German language via the internet: With DUO you can learn the German language online - easy and effective. When you're a student, scientist or manager, the DUO German - courses online will equip you with important know-how and language knowledge. The DUO lessons will prepare you for your stay in germany optimally.

For already half a year the German University Online provides DAAD scholars with free German language courses.

This offer is valid for scholars who participate at a DAAD-schoolarship program which lasts 6 months and longer. The learning happens at home with the assitance of experienced online tutors. Freie Universitaet Berlin International Summer and Winter University (FUBiS) program 2009

Fubis

FUBiS is an intensive, academic program through which students can earn credits that may be counted towards their degrees at their home institutions. FUBiS sessions run for 4 to 6 weeks and take place both in summer and winter. FUBiS offers intensive and semi-intensive German language classes at five different proficiency levels. In addition FUBiS offers subject classes on various class topics. These classes are held mostly in English by distinguished German and international faculty. The FU-Berlin International Summer and Winter University program includes fascinating courses with a focus on the humanities and social sciences.

Course tuition ranges from 800 – 2.000 EUR, depending on the length and intensity of the courses.

MA International Business & Intercultural Management and MA International Tourism Management

 

The Master Programmes International Business & Intercultural Management and International Tourism Management at Heilbronn University offer the possibility to earn the ‘Master of Arts’ degree in an international and multicultural environment. Combining business management and its international aspects with either intercultural management or tourism studies, the programmes are dedicated to qualifying first-degree graduates for management positions in globally operating organisations. The programmes are intended to equip future business leaders with the subject knowledge and the methodological, interpersonal and intercultural skills which will enable them to interact appropriately and responsibly in a diverse environment.

 

Specific benefits and assets of the programmes are:

·          Lectures delivered entirely in English.

·          A clearly structured, time-efficient schedule (3 semesters).

Technical University Hamburg - Harburg

Master study program at the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg  

Since 1997 the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH) offers master study programs in different fields of engineering in English and German language. By now approximately 900 students from all over the world have successfuly completed the challenging TUHH Master studies. The far over average study success rate is the result of careful selection procedures as well as excellent study conditions. The outstanding employment opportunities of the TUHH graduates in professions of engineering, in technology management as well as in science and research confirm the high education level.

By July the 31th interested graduates can apply for the Master Study programs of the TUHH, which will be held in English language. For the study programs in German language, the application has to be transmitted by July the 15th. Both will begin in winter semester 2008.

Applicants should have at least a four year first university degree (bachelor or comparable) in a relevant field as well as an appropriate subject combination and very good study results (overall grade rate 75 percent). You can find further Information in the internet under

Thus, from winter term 2008 onwards, the University of Kaiserslautern offers an international and interdisciplinary Master program in "Commercial Vehicle Technology”.

SLE plus: Berlin Training for International Development Cooperation

The SLE plus: Berlin Training for International Development Cooperation at Humboldt-University Berlin is offering three short term courses which are accompanied by a framework programme that provides participants with the opportunity to become familiar with scholarly discussions in the area of development cooperation, and to meet with representatives of German governmental and non-governmental organisations active in the field of development cooperation. Following courses will be offered:

-        "Decentralised Management of Regional Development” (09.08.-20.08.2010)

-        "Management of Development Projects” (23.08.-03.09.2010)

-        "Conflict Transformation and Peace Building” (06.09.-17.09.2010).

The SLE at the Humboldt-University Berlin has been training young postgraduates from all fields in international development cooperation and management for over four decades. More than 800 people have graduated from the SLE, and are now working in international development cooperation for private, international, and bilateral agencies.

The SLE is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Senate of Berlin.

Public Policy and Good Governance

On 28th of January 2010, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has been launched its new programme "Public Policy and Good Governance" (PPGG) in the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin. The DAAD aims for supporting good governance and to enforce the civil society in Africa, Latin America, South Asia, Southeast Asia as well as the countries of the Middle and Near East.

The programme is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and gives prospective managers of politics and administration the opportunity of studying International Master study programmes in Germany.

PhD-Program International Health by the Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich

The Center for International Health at Ludwig Maximilians-University (LMU), Munich was established in 2009 as an integrative institution for the coordination of already existing projects on development copperation and tropical disease research at LMU.

The CIHLMU-PhD-Program offers academic education and a research environment to scientists from developing countries, with special focus on the Millennium Development Goals. The duration of the program is three years, explicitly, starting in October every year.

The program language is English.

Requirements:

  • University degree in medicine, master degree in health related sciences
  • Provision of research project, related to health and development, along with a supervisor, reliably committed to accompany the project over the whole period
  • English proficiency
