The German - Egyptian scientific collaboration which has been initiated during the year 2007 has been elevated to a new level of success through a number of beneficial scientific projects and other related activities that took place in the past period.

Consequently, a big event was held in Cairo from the 9^th to the 11^th of November, 2008 in order to present the outstanding outcome of the joint projects and to highlight the success stories of the year. Projects and outstanding activities within the 6 expert groups (Material Sciences, Social Sciences, Water, Renewable Energies, Medicine, Biotechnology) were presented.

Joint German/Egyptian workshops, for example a proposal writing workshop, took place. Information about funding opportunities and networking possibilities were offered. A special focus of the event was on the presentation of joint German – Egyptian support schemes as well as on DAAD programs for research activities.

Subsequently to this "follow up” event, the DAAD was held an "Germany Alumni Fair” on the 12^th and the 13^th November, 2008. The "Germany Alumni Fair” is a joint cooperation between four German Institutions with an active network of Alumni: Inwent, DAAD, AGEF, GI and ZAV. The event aimed to create a long-standing networking and exchange of ideas between German Alumni worldwide.
