Certificate - 2nd Intake in the context of the DAAD Alumni Academy
In September 2009, the DAAD office in Cairo launched its DAAD Alumni Academy for former DAAD scholarship holders as well as for other Germany Alumni.
The objective of the Academy is to enhance the managerial and soft kills of young professionals in the age group of 30 to 45 years who have the potential to occupy future leading positions in scientific or industrial fields in Egypt.
The Academy has been running different activities to achieve its objectives. One of these activities is the certificate program consisting of a series of six workshops on different topics in the fields of management and communication skills. After successful completion of the first intake, the DAAD office in Cairo is announcing the 2nd intake. Each one of the six workshops will be carried out by Dr. Claudia Gross and Dr. Mostafa Hunter in turns on a bi-weekly basis starting on March 2nd 2010.
The specific topics covered in the course of these workshops are the following (the outlines can be downloaded by clicking on the title):
- Communication in Teams
- Basics of Management and Leadership
- Time Management and Planning
- Strategic Management
- Conflict Management and Negotiation
- Finance for Non-Financials
The dates of the workshops are: March 2nd & 16th & 23rd, April 6th & 20th, May 11th
They will be held from 4.30 to 8pm at the premises of the DAAD Cairo Office in Zamalek.
Since the six workshops are designed in a consecutive and cohesive way, applicants who want to participate in the certificate program of the DAAD Academy have to take part in each of the offered workshops.
Concluding the certificate program, a ceremony will be organized at the premises of the DAAD Cairo office and an Academy Certificate will be awarded to the training participants – given their regular attendance and their successful participation in the final exam.
The DAAD Alumni Academy is sponsored by the DAAD and therefore free of charge for its participants. No expenses of transportation or accommodation can be reimbursed.
Germany Alumni who are interested in participating in the certificate program of the DAAD Alumni Academy are asked to please fill in the application form (to be downloaded here) and send it together with their Curriculum Vitae to the following address: heba.amin@daadcairo.org
Remark about the last DAAD Newsletter
Please note that the announcement "Proposal Writing Workshops in cooperation with DAAD Alumni” in the newsletter was not stated c learly and might have been misleading . It is not an invitation to participate in a specific workshop, but an offer targeted at employees of Egyptian Universities to jointly – in cooperation with the DAAD – organize and finance proposal-writing workshops for their students.
If you are interested please refer to the announcement below.
Proposal-Writing Workshops in Cooperation with DAAD Alumni
The DAAD offers its Alumni, who are currently employed at an Egyptian University, to jointly organize and finance Proposal-Writing Workshops (PWWS) for students and postgraduates. The workshops are aiming at two different groups and meet their specific needs: 1. Master students and doctorates, 2. postgraduates.
The experienced trainers Prof. Mohammed El-Fouly, Alexander von Humboldt-Alumnus of the National Research Center, and Dr. Rasha Sharaf, Director of the Strategic Planning Unit in the Ministry of Higher Education, will present these workshops, possibly with the support of additional trainers. One workshop will take six hours (incl. breaks) and should not exceed a number of 25 participants.
The expenses for the remuneration as well as the travel costs of the trainers will be incurred by the DAAD. The hosting university is responsible for the local expenses, such as the venue, working material, food and drinks, possibly accommodation. Please take into consideration that we might not be able to satisfy all demands, since we can only fund six workshops in 2010.
For any further questions or inquiries, university members who are also DAAD Alumni should contact the DAAD office in Zamalek:
