The Way to Sustainability on the Isle of Rügen - Gaps and Bridges

This webinar is part of the of the international alumni seminar. The call for application is open until 20th February 2015.

First of all the webinar will present the concept, programme and locations of the international alumni seminar The Way to Sustainability on the Isle of Rügen - Gaps and Bridges.

Secondly, the webinar intends to reactivate the spirit of the last Alumni Conference, to meet again, to invite new alumni and to answer questions and open the discussion about the project seminar itself.

The goal of this webinar is to present and discuss the project seminar:

  • Which aspects of sustainability processes on Rügen Island should be dealt with?
  • How should the theoretical preparation and the practical work during the project seminar be organized?
  • Which methodological tools should be offered and applied during the project seminar?

These and many more questions will be tackled. But also your input - be it questions or thoughts - are very welcome.

Kick-off Webinar for the Alumni Project Seminar 

 

International Alumni Project Seminar held June 01 - 10, 2015 by Greifswald University

Deadline February 20th, 2015

The project seminar addresses international alumni of Master programmes at German universities qualified in the fields of sustainability, ecology and / or conservation. Targets of the project seminar are:

  • Offering/teaching, exchanging and applying modern methodological skills, scientific as well as technical, to analyze the state, developments and strategies on the way to sustainability.
  • Carrying out active and self-organized group work on the Isle of Rügen, an ecological and touristic hotspot in Germany. This case study analysis includes a public presentation and publication of the results.
  • During the project seminar methodological tools for the following topics will be provided by invited experts: (1) Transport, energy and climate, (2) Tourism development, (3) Environmental education and wilderness experiences, (4) Protected area management, (5) Land use and landscape development, (6) Video documentation.
  • Strengthening the international network between experts and initiators of sustainability processes e.g. by further profiling and broadening the "ANESCo” group (Alumni   Network forEcology,   Sustainability and   Conservation) as a platform to exchange knowledge, experiences and perspectives between alumni, students, experts, stakeholders and the regional public
  • Providing insight into recent research projects at Greifswald University
