DAAD-offers to foreign Alumni

This category provides information to all Students, Doctorates, Postdocs, Lectors and Professors who were supported by the DAAD - our Alumni. Of course we also warmly welcome everybody who is currently holding a scholarship. In order to keep your contact to the DAAD on a longterm basis, we hereby would like to inform you about our Alumni activities.

All informations provided here can also be downloaded as Info sheets in German and English. Furthermore, the DAAD Alumni panel offers a broad variety of specialist discussions and lots of possibilities to exchange opinions and experiences with other DAAD Alumni. You will also find the access to the DAAD professional literature program.Currently there is only some information available. It is up to you,  the DAAD Alumni and scholarship holders, to fill the panel with information! We are looking forward to your messages. To register, you only need your personal number ( PKZ) of  your scholarship.

Receive the Alumni Magazine "DAAD Letter" for free!

The DAAD Letter is printed three times a year and is free of charge for foreign DAAD Alumni. The main topics are the current developments and tendencies in the German higher education system and the different supporting areas and programs of the DAAD. You can read exclusive articles online. In addition, some abroad branches of the DAAD send their own regional publications.

DAAD professional literature program

Former scholarship holders of all subjects from developing countries, countries of middle and eastern europe and the former sovjet union can apply for professional literature ( books, journals, articles) from German  publishing companies once a year to extend their scientific education. The total value should not exceed 200 euro per year. A detailed information sheet in German and English will provide you with specific information. Generally, applications should be made online. Your advantage of this is, that you can easily check the literature databases on delivery status and prices.You can find the online access in the Alumni panel. In case  you didnt register yet to the Alumni Forum, please register first. We are looking forward to your application and your feedback!

Re-invitations

The DAAD can reinvite former scholarship holders who worked at least three years in their homecountry after they finished their studies in Germany and completed their graduation three years prior to the application. The reinvitaion will include a study residence for a duration of 3 months in Germany. Due to the high amount of applications, unfortunately not every one can be taken into consideration. The application must be handed in at the DAAD office Cairo.

Group programs

Support of former DAAD scholarship holders through Alumni clubs

The DAAD supports the 120 worldwide Alumni clubs in their realisation of professional events.  Preconditions are that at least a part of the members are former DAAD scholarship holders and the club must be admitted by national law. In addition, the event has to be  subject oriented and of use for participants of the area of higher education. If a DAAD Alumni club does not exist in your homecountry, we would be happy to support you with the creation.

Alumni seminars

The DAAD organises subject related and interdisciplinary Alumni seminars in different countries every year.  These events usualy take place in cooperation with the German  Representative offices, the DAAD lectors and the local Goethe Institutes, Universities and Alumni clubs.

Equipment Grants

The Equipment Grants Program is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development ( Bundesministerium für Wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung - BMZ) and managed by the German Academic Exchange Service ( DAAD). The Equipment Grants Program aims to support projects in developing countries in the field of teaching, research and development and to improve services at universities and comparable scientific and research institutions in developing countries. More information >>> 

Alumni activities of German Universities

The German universities are also endeavouring to build connections to former foreign guest students. Therefore, a lot of Alumni clubs were founded in various Universities, which organised themselves in the main club www.alumni-clubs.net . The DAAD supports the German universities with different programs and helps them to keep contact with their foreign Alumni. Please contact your former German University in order to stay connected!
